As mentioned before, as I have been reading more than writing of late I am going to start sharing what are latest books I have purchased to read. I wont review every book, but just a selection of ones who I feel are a 4 or 5 star quality.
This idea of showcasing the latest books originally came from Tynga Reviews’ Stacking the Shelves weekly meme post.
Since I am not a full-time book blogger these book reads are solely from books I have purchased as opposed to being given by the author or publisher for review. As an indie writer I tend to purchase a lot of indie books but there will be the occasional traditionally published book mentioned as well.
My horde of book downloads since my last post are:-
Authors I haven’t read before
Can’t wait to start Ten Tiny Breaths in particular, this has been sitting on my want list for over a year but been hesitant because of the high ebook price but it was on sale recently.
A money saving complication of new adult favourites
Books in Series already started
Really enjoyed Ember (Book 1 in Death Collectors) so hope this will live up to that standard.
Authors I have read before
My favourite part of reading is newly discovering sections of text that conjure up how the author’s words can just step off the page and sum up an emotion of the whole book.
“You’re mine, and a piece of you will always belong to me the same way a piece of me will always belong to you.”
Pieces of You by Cassia Leo
“He made sure that no man would ever live up to him. In the end, he hurt me more than I hurt him. I broke his heart, but he tore mine into a million pieces. Even if I wanted to piece it back together, I would never find them all because he would always be holding some.”
There is No Light in Darkness by Claire Contreras
“I knew there was going to be pain whether I did anything wrong or not – so maybe I should do something to actually deserve it.”
“In the balance of love and loss, it was love that made me struggle to… Breathe.”
Reason to Breathe by Rebecca Donovan
“We can contemplate the meaning of your life all you want, but know that you’re my meaning… the reason behind just about everything I do―and I would never want to change that. ~ Evan”
Barely Breathing by Rebecca Donovan
Another new feature I am going to start is choosing my favourite book boyfriend from the previous month of reading and hopefully help others to discover another hot leading man for them to read about.
In the running for October’s Book Boyfriend are:
Jared – Give Me Love by Kate McCarthy
Riff – Rock My Bed by Michelle Valentine
Jake Wethers – Wethering the Storm by Samantha Towle
Anthony Rawlings – Convicted by Aleatha Romig
Jake Hayes – What I Didn’t Say by Keary Taylor
And The Winner Is…
For me, there was no contest Jared is the epiphany of hot leading man – muscular, strong, protective, dependable, and never gives up even if he thinks his woman doesn’t want him anymore.
Do you have a different favourite book boyfriend out of the list mentioned above? Drop me a comment below and let me know.
As I seem to be reading more than I am writing at the moment I am going to try and blog some regular features about the books I read on a monthly or weekly basis. Bookshelf Stacking is the first of such features. I will aim for this to be a weekly feature.
Since I am not a full-time book blogger my book reads will be solely from books I have purchased as opposed to being given by the author or publisher for review. As an indie writer I tend to purchase a lot of indie books but there will be the odd traditionally published book mentioned as well.
So what is Bookshelf Stacking going to be about I hear you ask. It is simply going to be a list of books that I have downloaded onto my Ipad over the previous week and a brief summary of what they are about.
I purchased the first book in this series, Girl with Guitar ages ago but only just read it. I enjoyed that one so purchased this second book and read it immediately. They are both enjoyable stories about a country music singer starting to make a name for herself with some hot romance with an established country music bad boy. 4 stars for the series so far.
In an attempt to complete some of the series I have already started I bought these three books by Kelli Maine. Taken, book one in the Give & Take series was a 5 star read for me back in March so I am looking forward to getting back into this series. Taken started slightly like Consequences by Aleatha Romig for me in as much as the hero, Merrick Rocha stalks then abducts the heroine, Rachael DeSalvo and cuts her off from her previous life.
I am currently reading another music themed book by Heidi McLaughlin which are my favourite kind so couldn’t resist purchasing this also.
Although I am a writer, I foremost am a reader. I enjoy New Adult and Contemporary books. I read on average three to five books a week. I currently live in United Kingdom, but book research takes me all of the world through the virtual aid of the internet on a daily basis. I am in the process of writing book two and three of my rockstar series, Fusion which will be released in Spring 2014.
